Bessie Reitz
Bessie Reitz was the daughter of Frank Reitz and thus a niece of Fan Schreiner’s, and she later qualified as a medical doctor. Schreiner makes several mentions of Bessie Reitz in her later letters and seems to have been in contact with her particularly in 1914 when Bessie was in London for a time. In a 1912 letter to Merriman she commented of Bessie, “She is the most remarkable girl, with a heart as warm & large as her intellect is bright & burning.”
