Major Edward Marriot
Edward Frere Marriott (1854 - 1903) was a member of the Indian Staff Corps and worked in the Military Department of the Indian Government. Schreiner met Marriott and his wife Aileen while she was staying at Matjesfontein. He had tuberculosis, from which he died; later Schreiner took at interest in his sons, who were at school in England.
