20 I wonder if you really will be here before the end of the year. You
21will find astonishing change passed over every thing. It is the Boer
22who is top dog now. All my thoughts & anxieties have long passed away
23from him. My only fear now is, in how far he is going to help in
24pushing on war & slaughtering natives. Of course it is not going to be
25all on one side; when the whites have goaded the natives into rising
26there will be more than one Isandlwana!

28 There was Good bye dear one. I hope Alice is with you & that she is
29better again. I am very well, the weather is so glorious just now. We
30arrive in Cape Town on the 23rd of this month, are going to stay at
31Hadden Hall, Tamboer’s Kloof.
