Dear old Man,
When I was in Cape Town I was always able to get news of you from Fan
& the children, now I am wondering how you are & how things are with
your health especially; but I don’t expect you to write I know how
much of the rest of your holiday must just lie in having got rid of
pen ink & paper for a time. I expect my Boy Oliver has had a fine time.
Even if you don’t go to Italy you out just to take a run up the St
?Golherd Pass, though it’s a very poor thing in summer compared to

trouble, which all all comes of his being so trustful & innocent. You

I am just writing a note to Ursula to ask how you are & what your
latest news is. I have written to the care of Emma, & three to the
Colonial Institute 100 Queen Victoria St London. I hope you have got
them, though not of much worth.
I wonder if you have been seeing many folk in London. I wish never to
go there again except to see my dozen or two close & dearly beloved
friends. But my soul pants & thirsts to see Italy, beloved Italy again,
& to do the journey over the Alps. Well it is something that I have
seen it & loved it. After all our wealth is all the things we have
been able to love on our journey through life.
Good bye dear old man. I hope it will be long before you return to us,
& when you do that you will have rested out; & above all will come
with a firm resolve not to over work.
Your little sis
