4 I am sitting as usual in my little study with Ollie on her rug before
5the fire & Gobalie sleeping among his rugs in the dining room. I’m
6soon going to bed. Cron is still at de Aar, but returns on Saturday
7next. Hanover seems very empty without him. Isn’t love a strange
8thing; how empty every thing seems without one person.

11hope soon I hear you have started off for Athens.

13 I am writing a little every day now, & am much stronger than I was. I
14love my little house very much, & am quite glad to live here now till
15the end of my days. I’ve squared with things, & the people here
16don’t hurt me any more. I’m trying to forget about the war & live
17in my work. The meerkats are well.

19 The kettle is boiling now & I’m going to fill my warm water bottle &
20go off to bed.

22 I wonder if when you are in London you & Miss Greene would go to see
23my darling girl Adela Smith. She’s been terribly ill had to undergo
24an operation. Her address is

28 I’ll enclose write to her this week, & give her your address & ask
29her to write to you if she feels able to see anyone. Ask to see her
30two little children if you go, & tell me about them. How many good &
31beautiful things one has in life with all one’s

34they are but somewhere in the world. ^
