8 I am still here. I was so go glad of your letter & to hear you were
9perhaps going to see Isabella. I have not been to see Mrs Murray yet.
10I have only been able to go out a few times since I came to Cape Town.
11But I am better the last week & shall perhaps be able to get out. The
12doctors say my heart is more enlarged than it was & has pressed the
13stomach quite out of its place too, so I can’t expect to be very
14spry! Why I am so much better when I am lying down is that heart is
15always distended with blood, but that when I lie down it has less work
16in pumping it.

18^Cron has just gone up to Hanover for ten days. Nothing is doing in
19parliament. Dear old Malan & his wife came to see me last night as
20Anna Purcell had to take them I was not well. It was so nice to see
21them. This is only one Malan in South Africa. The more I see him the
22more I trust him politically. ^
