Dearest Friend

I send you to the letter I’ve just got from Mrs Lawrence because I
think what she tells about her brother’s death is so beautiful, &
will interest you.

The weather here is beautiful & warm for Hanover & I seem reviving in
it like a withered sea weed revives when it’s thrown back into sea
water.

Cron heard to-day that his offer of £20 in payment for the so called
libel had been accepted. So that difficulty is now over. I wonder how
it is going with that action Claud Wright & Molteno were going to
bring on against the Cape Times. Has it been settled?

Good bye, dear, dear friend. I wonder how the loss of your dear one
has affected you. Once all sorrow & pain stimulated me, often only too
much, now it only deadens me. Its I don’t really feel anything only
just a little bit
