Dear Friend

I am so thankful to hear Miss Molteno is better. I felt very anxious
about her when I last saw her; it seemed as if at any moment something
might snap. I do hope the time at Caledon will do her good. I don’t
think you ought to come here just yet the cold is too awful. I will
write & tell you if it gets warmer. I had a wire from Cron today
saying he had arrived safely. Please let me know just how Miss Molteno is.

All goes on here as ever. I & the meerkats & Neta & the little Kaffir
boy form the world to each other. To day I found the little Kaffir boy
smoking a cigarette of mine which he had picked up, he says! He’s a
dear little fellow, who can have a very good laugh. It’s strange how
I like Kaffirs. He was laughing himself sick this afternoon at
Neta’s way of begging me on her hind legs & then running away to the
pantry door to show me where the food was.

All good be with you.
Olive

PS. I have just heard that Mrs Botha doesn’t want to sell her farm.
