Dear Friend

I wonder how you have been feeling, if you had rain at the farm we
have had pouring rain j here, but today is fine.

I am going out to Rondebosch to have lunch with Cron’s mother. He will
be there till Thurs-day when Parliament begins again.

Mrs Johnson says I can have the meerkats here in their box on the
verandah ^balcony^. It will be such a comfort. I can’t bear to think of
them alone & cold & wet! When I feel so chilled I think, "What must
they feel."

The Purcells are going to live at Berghvliet & let their house here.

How is Miss Molteno now? Really better? I have found such comfort from
the little tea pot during these dark rainy days.

I am still meaning to come to Elgin, but but must chose bright morning
weather as my chest is getting a bit bad.

Much love to you both. I am going to buy wood & have a fire in my room
so when you come again, you see a nice fire & we can all sit round it.
