My dear dear Friends,

I can’t write but I want to tell you how I love you. Neither you nor
Dr Brown must die before I die. Something would be gone from permanent
good from my life that I can’t lose now. My hands & legs are very
much swollen & I am unable to lie down at night, but the commandant
has kindly given me permission to keep a light burning at night so it
is not so hard as it used to be. I can’t send those little stories
now, but perhaps I shall get better enough when the warm weather comes
to do that little bit.

Good bye. My heart clings so to all my old friends now.

Good bye.
