My dear dear Friends,

3 I can’t write but I want to tell you how I love you. Neither you nor
4Dr Brown must die before I die. Something would be gone from permanent
5good from my life that I can’t lose now. My hands & legs are very
6much swollen & I am unable to lie down at night, but the commandant
7has kindly given me permission to keep a light burning at night so it
8is not so hard as it used to be. I can’t send those little stories
9now, but perhaps I shall get better enough when the warm weather comes
10to do that little bit.

12 Good bye. My heart clings so to all my old friends now.
