6 I got your letter this morning. I saw Mrs de Villiers this afternoon &
7asked her if she had heard from you. She said she had not. I suppose
8you did not leave Cape Town for Hanover as intended. The paper says
9there has been fighting at Fraserburg Rd, but it may not be true. I
10wish so much you were here – I am going tomorrow morning to a Mrs
11Watermeyer here to see if she could take you as boarders. I don’t
12think you’d be happy at Mrs de Villiers for more than a few days. B
13If you were alone I should be more anxious for you to come, but I am
14so afraid the strain of living here may be too much for the state of
15Miss ^Greene’s^ health. You have no idea what it is! It is like living
16on the edge of Mount Etna!! Cartwrights leaders have been very good
17lately. Can you find out the inward meaning of this Uitlander
18movement? Is Rhodes at the back of it trying to work out the foreign
19capitalists, or is it a real anti-Rhodes movement?
