My darling old sister

Many happier returns of your wedding day. May this be the saddest you
are ever to know. I miss you so much even more than the children.

I’ve had asthma all the last days since I came from St James so fear
I can’t come soon again. If you go to town try & come & look me up
here. If I should be out there’s always lots of cold meat &c in the
cupboards.

I’m going in to town this afternoon & will send get a pail for the
milk.

We nearly shot David last night. He was at Simon’s town at a cricket
match all day. At 12 o’clock Cron said he heard some one down stairs,
he armed himself with his pistol, & we went down together
