The Project is grateful to Manuscripts and Archives, University of Cape Town, for kindly allowing us to transcribe this Olive Schreiner letter, which is part of its Manuscripts and Archives Collections. The date has been written on this letter in an unknown hand. Schreiner wrote it while on a train probably going to Ceres in the Western Cape, where she was resident for most of November 1889.

Thank you for all your great goodness to me, dear. You must come & see
me in the Karroo, & I’ll give you fat "bockky" every day.
Love to our little ones. I don’t like to leave them. The train
shakes so I can’t write as beautifully as usual.
