6 My dear Mary,
8 Did you get my letters from St Leonards? I only got yours here today.
10 I found St Leonards too ho relaxing & have come up here, to Ed
& taken a tiny two roomed cottage. I am so uncertain of my
12movements darling, it all depends on letters from others which I may
13get any day whether I remain in Europe or return to Africa. If I
here I shall go abroad to Italy early in September & if it were
15possible for you to go too, it would be so lovely.
17 Good bye.
19 My Mary: let me hear from you soon. I am so sorry my plans are so
20unsettled but everything about me is unsettled ^now.
22 Your Olive^
Rive's (1987) version omits part of this letter and is also in a number of respects incorrect.
