Just got your letter, darling Mary. Am moving into Bertram House, that
house at the top of the Avenue, I may ^tomorrow^ can't come out tomorrow
I fear. I'll try to, but you must just go out as if I weren't. If I do
come it will be late in the evening. If I can't come tomorrow, I'll
come on Sunday afternoon, & perhaps stay the night.

I long to see you & the children so. Good bye.

But if any thing nice turns up for Tuesday dear, don't put it off,
because I might be prevented. I seem not to have had one moment since
I came to town. It's so bad to have been here so long & never seen you.
If I stay on at Bertram House it will be a nice convenient place for
you to come whenever you come to town. I long so to be back at
Matjesfontein, but I can't beare to leave Mrs Marriott. You will like
them both so much if you come to see them.
