When exactly do you expect little Peter to come? In January? Don't
forget to tell me.

I'm so very sorry Mrs Innes cook can't do the work. It will be a great
disappointment to her. I've got a good Hottentot man who is ^'s^ a great
comfort to me, but he only promised to come for three months. I hope
he'll stay longer.

I am going to trouble you about something. The woman who kept the
private hotel I stayed at in Yorkshire said she had an Uncle in this
country of whom they'd no news for some time. He was last at Mr
Hiddinghs, & they asked me to try & get news of him, as his wife was
very anxious to hear where he was, or whether he was alive. Isn't Mr
Hiddinghs of Queens Villa Cape Town, a sort of relative of yours? If
you know him & could do it with out too much trouble, could you find
out from him what became of the Samuel Holroyd who was staying with
him some time ago? His friends have never heard of him since they ^he^
was ther was at Mr Hiddinghs & he was ill then in November 1896. If
you could find out I should be so glad.

Do you see the Kimberley Advertiser? They have had some very good
leaders lately written by Cartwright I believe. I've got no asthma
here: my heart only troubles me a bit. If I could be well like this in
Cape Town how lovely it would be.
