7I hope your understood that I took your question on the phone as a
8joke, when I replied it was all nonsense about a revolution Of course
9there was nothing serious in the movement; beyond the ordinary wish of
10working men to do the best they can to get some share of life. But
11there was nothing new or striking in the strike. I took what you said
12as a joke! It has just struck me you may have meant it seriously, &
13thought me not very polite to call it nonsense. It is in Italy &
14France that the violent revolutions will take place I think. In
15Germany there will be a great peaceful evolution after the war I think.
16 The educated & organized workingclasses gaining control instead of
17the Jonkers: But it is so hard to foresee the future today. What is
18creeping over England seems to me a deadly exhaustion

20I spent three lovely days in the country at Witsun tide, & yesterday I
21spent at Hampton Court. Next Sunday (not tomorrow) but the Sunday
22after, & the Sunday after I shall be at home as my brother is going
23for those two Sundays to the country & if you are in town & care-d
24call I should enjoy having a chat with you, if can telephone before
25hand or write so that hear on Saturday Please let me know if you hear
26of Miss Ehrlichs safe arrival at the Cape.

35Faces’ Its the best I’ve ever seen. I went twice. Be sure to go if
