The year has been written on this letter in an unknown hand. Schreiner stayed in Edinburgh House for some weeks in September 1889, then went to London before sailing to South Africa on 11 October; thus the dating of this letter.

7Fortnightly in a few days.

9I am going away to the Cape in a few days short time; I s-ail on the
1011th of October in the Norham Castle. If will enough I am going up to
11London for a few days next Wednesday I should like to see you once
12more for a few minutes to say good bye if you could make time to come
13& see me: do you think you could. I shall perhaps be at the C X Hotel,
14but I will let you have my address when I come up. I want to know if
15there is any good news about the new paper.
