My dear Alice,

I went on Sunday to Berkhampstead. Your sister-in-law Eva ^& your
sister Hellen^ met me at the station in the motor & took me first to
see the family at the college. then we went up to her house, & I saw
your sister Polly & all the dear charming children. Oh the baby is
such a love, Alice, really a baby in a thousand.

I did have a splendid day. I went up to see Hellen’s sweet little
cottage, so dry & high & full of light & beauty. I don’t know which
I admired most that or the big artistic house below.

A charming friend of Hellen’s was there too who lives with her. Of
course we talked of you. I didn’t know when I have had such a happy
day. I felt so in union with them all

^Your sister Hellen has a beautiful little room ready for your. Come
soon ^
