My dear old Man

I’m thinking so much of you & Fan. Sir Graham Green would be able to
give news of the boat as soon as any one. I had to walk about two
hours this morning in the snow to find a taxi to bring me here.

I feel quite grand with my sittingroom here. You must come & see me
some day if you have a minute to spare. The air is much better here
than in the other little room. We have a telephone in the house which
is a great comfort. The landladys name is Smith, if ever you or Fan
want to telephone.

Good night dear. I wonder if your boy is on the waves already. I
hardly think so.
