Dear Mrs Gillet

Thank you so much for your great kindness in replying so quickly. My
friend thinks the rooms will suit her well. I’m so glad you’ve got
a new little one. Is it your second? I shall like very much to come &
spend a day with you in the spring, & may perhaps find rooms which
suit me, where I could stay for a while. But I feel almost afraid of
meeting any friends now because I am a strong peace person & have been
since I was 9 years old, & I find my friends have all become such
intensely war people that meeting them always makes me sad, by a sense
of our infinite division in our out-look on human life. In Africa
things are as melancholy as they can be.

Good bye. Thank you so very much
Yours ever
Olive Schreiner

I wonder if you or your husband knew by any chance a Mrs D G Ritchie
the wife of an Oxford Professor with whom I used to stay in Banbury Rd.
He is dead I know; but I should like to come into touch with her if I
knew her address.
