Thanks for letter much dear - No I don’t mean to go with Miss
Hobhouse
. If she I see she wants to tack herself on to me wherever I
go in Europe, & I simply just couldn’t bear it. She’s a dear good
woman like Mrs Solly - but quite impossible to live with

Don’t if you see her say anything to encourage her to think I am
going to take her about with me. She has has already written to say
that as Pethwick Lawrence is going to take me to Italy no doubt he
will take her too!! Pethwick Lawrence & Mrs Lawrence cannot bear her.
I am proposing going on the 6th not to go with her. Don’t mention
this to anyone but if you meet her don’t in any way encourage her to
go with me. A few months of Miss Hobhouse would crush me altogether.
If I were strong & well & could wait on her it would be all right –
I should think I was doing good. She is one of those masterful women
who quietly crushes every one who comes near her, I’d rather stay in
Africa than have to go about with her I haven’t the strength

Good bye dear; this is such a hurried note in case you should meet
Miss Hobhouse. I I shall be so much better without her. Rem Give my
kind regards to Will ?Cookes It’ll be interesting having him.

Good bye dear.
