Darling Alice
I do wish I could see you. But I’m a dull stupid person now to see,
not like I used to be when you saw me last – though I wasn’t much
I hope Africa will be nice to you. I somehow don’t think you will
stay long at Dube’s. If you pass through the Transvaal go & see The
unreadable Tolstoy Farm where Gandi is. You must come & see me on your
way down.
Good bye, dear one.

I love to think you are on the same continent. Love to Betty. I know
she’s happy now.
Love also to dear Mrs Murray.
