My dear old sister
I have been thinking of you all this week, with your nest empty of its
two young ones. Will will come back soon – but from then its a long
parting. I know so well all you are feeling though you are so brave
about it & say so little. Please let me know if you hear of their
arriving at Madiera or England. They’ll have a wild party on board
with the Merrimans & Purcells.
Our awful winds have begun here already: they ought not to begin till
the end of the month, but I’m keeping very fit.
I wish I could come down & see Dot & you while our folks are away.
Perhaps I shall manage it but I dont think so. You see I have to be
away from de Aar in Jan & Feb & March & generally December, so I never
like to leave till the heat absolutely drives me. It’s the only time
I can be here. And then in the summer you are at the sea side where I
can’t come.
Ruth Alexander & her husband will be passing down from Kimberley next
week, & are going to spend one day here with me. Its such a treat to
see any one.
Good bye dearest old sissie
Your little sister
