Dear Laddie
When do you go to Queen’s town. I am going up to Matjesfontein early
next month. I was quite broken down when I got here last Friday & the
wouldn’t let me leave; I’m getting much better. The
air here is wonderful; so different from St James.
Perhaps we might go as far as Matjesfontein to-gether, or you might
stop a day with me there. There are so many things I want to talk over
with you but we never get time in town. On that important question of
your entering the Union parliament there is much to be said on many
sides. But I believe you will go in.
If Bill passes his exams successfully this month it may make a
difference to your plans.
I am very sorry Gladstone is coming out. All my liberal friends write
of him as an ?unmixed fool; & he will simply run the Transvaal as a
donkey is driven along in a cart!
Good bye dear. Too stupid to write more.

When do you come to St James?
