The Project is grateful to Manuscripts and Archives, University of Cape Town, for kindly allowing us to transcribe this Olive Schreiner letter, which is part of its Manuscripts and Archives Collections. A dating of November 1909 has been written on the letter in an unknown hand. However, the troubles in the WEL referred to in it suggests an earlier part of the year, thus the approximate dating given to it.
Dear Anna
I am sending Mrs Macintoshes letter to me to Minnie who will send it
to you & Mrs Solly to answer.
Do write too to Mrs Haldene Murray. Mrs Brown I am sure has been
writing to her.
Be sure in writing to both to explain that it is a matter much deeper
than the petition we are acting about & quote to her the passage in
the in set giving all our powers permanently to the National committee
from the in set, & explain to her who it was not made clear to you.
In Olive
You can send this on to Mrs Solly if you like. I am too ill to write
at length to Mrs Macintosh.
