The date of this letter has been derived from the postmark on an attached envelope, which also provides the address it was sent to. Schreiner was in Cape Town from early July 1908 to early September 1908.

5 Mrs Brown is only free for Wednesday afternoon the 12th or Monday
6afternoon the 17th or on next Saturday evening or Monday evening the
9 But she is not strong enough to attend a meeting in the afternoon &
10evening of the same day. So if she attends an afternoon meeting on
11Monday she can’t speak again in the evening. Please let her know at once
12at she has got to put off and other important engagements to keep
