Legend
The Project is grateful to Manuscripts and Archives, University of Cape Town, for kindly allowing us to transcribe this Olive Schreiner letter, which is part of its Manuscripts and Archives Collections. The year 1907 has been written on this letter in an unknown hand; Schreiner?s pen has blotted in writing the date and made it difficult to read.

My dear Laddie

I hope you will by this time be safely at the end of your voyage.

Fan has sent me most lovely photos of you all. Yours, the large one,
is the finest you ever had taken; it is splendid, the first I have
ever really entirely like. Fan’s is splendid too. The whole group is
nice, but you are the best. You must have been feeling very sweet that
day! Miss Molteno would say you had "a poet’s face" if she saw it!

I am anxious to hear how our dear little girl gets on at Cambridge.

The doctor here said I must get away for a change. Cron & I went to
the show at Port Elizabeth. It was a lovely time: I feel much better
since I got back. I used to sleep 12 hours at a stretch here, with the
rest to my heart of being lower.

^It was a most happy little rest. It was so nice to be with Cron. He is
back at de Aar & I am here alone again, but wonderfully rested by the
change. ^

Drop me a line, if you are able dear.
