6 I wonder how our boy Will is & how you all are. Has he quite got over
7his fever? I know your birth day is somewhere about now & I hope
8it’ll be a "happy day," as our little ones used to say.

10 We are having such cold weather here, the dishes of water left out at
11night are frozen solid in the morning. All the fruit & vegetables have
12been till killed, we shall have nothing this year. At present we are
13living on rice & lean meat. But the drought seems breaking in other
14parts of the country, so it must break here. ?Still that will give us
15nothing this summer after the terrible frost.

18I was in it. except wh

20 I am coming down to Cape Town perhaps next month for a few days. I
21shall go to Mrs Purcell’s first, but before I leave shall some &
22spend two days with you, because if I get asthma then it doesn’t
23matter I can just come up.
