Dear Mrs Murray

I have written to the address you were so very kind as to give me, but
am not sure I had it unreadable right. Was it Mrs Tailor
Vet Poort
Via Beaufort West.

I got here this morning, but as the house has a thatched roof I may
have to move on.

It’s very hard, far harder than had I expected never to be able to
get any news. I left on Cape Town on Monday night, & shall not have
any any fresh news till next Saturday & then it will be only Fridays
Thursdays Cape Papers.

I was so sorry I didn’t see you the last time you came. I’d gone
to see the Doctor.

This is fine air, but Africa looks so sad to me now, the koppjes & the
mountains. It d wouldn’t be so hard if one were doing anything.

Good bye. Many thanks for giving me the address.

Yours sincerely
