Dear Friend

I thought Sauers defence splendid & triumphant. I am also much please
with Merriman’s till land tax bill. I have to sit up day & night now
like at Kimberley, so I can’t think much.

I send you rather an interesting letter, showing the view of a
cultured liberal English woman on the question. I make no doubt the
blu bulk of the English people are right, but how does that help us
with the government which has still three years to run. Your brother
Percy is doing good work I see.

I wish I was able to go over to Pretoria & see how things are going
there I’m so in the dark

month or so at least. You don’t know what your visit was to me.
