Dear Fan

When are you & Ollie coming up? I hope you don’t forget your plan.
Cron’s dear Old Mother is spending a little time with. She leaves on
Tuesday, & Cron is going to take her to Hopetown, & will stay here for
a few days.

We had a very pleasant visit to Johannesburg, as we stayed with my
very dear friends the Lloyds. The climate there is splendid, but the
place is a terrible place; not the kind of place I should like to live
in. We spent two days with Hudson & Fred at Pretoria. Hudson is a dear
splendid old fellow, & Fred is just the same dear boy as ever. The
Reitzes were very kind to us. Cron fell very much in love with your
brother. He is so simple & straightforward & manly. He seems very
anxious that Will should come up there. As far as money goes no doubt
it would be very well, & the change would do Will good. But I don’t
want him to go just now; if all good men leave the Colony who is to
fight Rhodes!

Give my love to the dear, small people & write & tell me how the world
goes with you all. I seem to have no news of you now-a-days.
