Dear Jessie

I have been up here about six weeks, & have taken a little house which
we are going to move into next month. I hate Johannesburg very much
but the doctors think is doing my heart good; & Cron is going to start
work with a lawyer with a view of ultimately becoming a solicitor. I
wish dear Mrs Chappin were here still. I hear she has been very ill in
America. If you are writing to her give her my love, & say I say she
must come back here. Give my heartiest greetings to your husband: men
like himself & St Ledger & Berry will always be of value to a country,
& cannot ultimately help the Rhodes & Sievewrights & Harries. I think
your husband has played a splendidly strong part during the last
months, & only hope the strain has not been too much for him.

Good bye, dear. All good be with you.
