The Homestead
Sunday afternoon

My dear old Laddie

I don’t forget Friday will be your birthday. I send this word of
greeting in good time so that in case you have left, it may be sent
after you.

All strong unchanging love goes out to you my old Will, & will always
go out to you while life lasts dear. May next year be full of health &
all good things for you. I am not very fit suffering from an abcess in
my ear, which makes my head dull & stupid. Cron sends his love to you,
& good wishes. I think you would be surprised if you knew the tender
words that are often spoken of you in this little house.

Good bye dear Laddy
