Yes, Julie darling, money can’t pay for love or sympathy, not even
the least little touch of it. But that’s no reason why one
shouldn’t pay for what can be paid for & take the love & sympathy as
priceless!! You will never know what you were to me after those long
awful ten days of loneliness. I was much better at Matjesfontein I
thought I was going to get well, but I’m bad here.

Cron is going to de Aar for a couple of months on Monday. I am going
with him but if I can’t stand the sand & heat I must come back here.

Dear, if ever I send for you or Elsie you must promise me you won’t
come to leave the little Mother alone. If one is out nursing & one
with her, then you must get another nurse for me.

I don’t think I shall go on long ^without help^ but per-haps I shall
have a little better turn: It is the kidneys that won’t act, but
perh its no use getting drugs for that as the doctors say it all comes
from the heart.

// I am so thankful the dear mother has you & Elsie.

Good bye darling
