6 If I’d thought you would be here I’d have stayed in on Saturday.

8 Thank you so much for asking me for Wednesday. I thought till today I
9would be able to come. But Wednesday is my mother-in-laws birthday, &
10there is to be a great gathering of the whole family for lunch & tea
11so I can’t be away. I’m so sorry not to come, but will come & see
