I am so sorry I mentioned to you this morning that Hughie Cartwright
was dying of cancer. I know it must have brought back all you have
lived through But I felt half stunned when I got Cron’s letter this
morning telling me of it. For the last four years at de Aar he was
like a child in our house, in & out every day. I can’t realize now
that he’s really dying.

But I ought not to have mentioned it. unreadable He’s the fifth of
Cron’s family who has died of cancer in the last few years: but it
was very thoughtless of me to have told you about it. "Great is
silence."

I hope you have rested nicely today dear one
