De Aar
The 15th 1912

Thanks of your letter, dear, & the addresses. Heat & drought continue
Drysdales temperature is still 102 & half de Aar is in bed.

Cron is having rheumatism in his left leg, & I want him to go down to
Cape Town for a week or ten days, but don’t know if I shall get him
to go.

I get up every morning very very early & water the garden before the
sun comes. After 7.30 it gets too hot.

I will write to Grey tonight. I generally do my writing about 2 or
three in the morning; its too hot to sleep, but cooler than at any
other time - & yet the heat is nothing now to what it will be in a
months time!
