6 I wish so much you would go to see my friend Mrs Alexander. She she is
7at Kimberley Villa Muizenberg. When you leave the station at
8Muizenberg & walk towards St James you soon come to a white double
9story house next to the church this side of Ab Bailey’s. She’s a
10splendid little little woman. I’d feel it a gift to me if you went.
11She has three tiny children, two darling little girls whom Alice will
12love & a new-born little son now four weeks old.

14 I am sending you that French man’s article. Will send you his letter
15in the papers as soon as I can find it. I feel you, Alice ought to go
16among the natives. Live there quietly for some months & print what you
17see. Your letters will be carefully filed by me. Then you come to de
18Aar & revise them. If it would be any help I would write a little
19preface just saying who you are, & the importance of the matter.
20Des-cribing native South African life simply & straight which has
21never yet been done. Don’t say no dear. Bettie can flie in upon you
22now & then & upon me at De Aar, be with all the darling children & the
23dear relatives at Cape Town, & make us all joyful wherever she goes. I
24am sure if you look at it carefully you will see there is no use in
25your just hanging round about Cape Town. We’ve had tremendous cold
26here.

31 ^Cron starts for the Victoria Falls on Sunday. I enclose you the note I
32got from Ruth Alexander this morning just to show you what she’s
33like. Return it. Alexander is a great upholder of the natives in
34parliament. He’s not very polished, but he’s a good hearted fellow,
35 & very talented.^
