My dear Laddie

My thoughts are always with you there over the water. That first day
in London, how I’ve pictured our little Ursies feeling. I wonder if
she felt as Dot & I did on our first day. "I love it, I love it! It’s
mine, its mine!" When all is said & done there is no spot on earth so
dear to me – but I would not wish to be buried there – because the
graveyards are not in London.

The rest of England except Eastbourne I care little for but London,
London!

I hope you will have a real time of mental refreshment & the rest you
so need. It is not, as Dot so truly says, only your office work which
wears you out, it is all your thought & care for other people the
thousands of little things you are always thinking of & doing for them.

I hope you will meet some refreshing folk. I do hope you will like my
friends the Rhys Davids if you meet them. I see they have written a
paper together for the congress.

Good bye, dear.
I’m sure you’ve no time for reading long letters, but I must let you
know I’m thinking of you
