5 A little bird has told me that I am to be made richer by another
6little nephew or niece in June. I'm so glad. You have such beautiful
7satisfactory children & you & Charley train them so well that its very
8nice our family is growing your way!

10 Tell Charley to write a line whenever it happens as we may not be down
11to Parliament till the middle or end of June.

13 I had a talk with Alsie about dear old Ely's husband which very much
14cheered me. She says he is kind hearted-ness itself, couldn't be
15unkind to anyone. Just what I feared he would be rough & hard with her,
16 & I feel now as if a great weight were lifted off me.

18 I hope all goes well with you, dear.

24 My dear old boy is away at De Aar & the house seems so empty.

26 Hasn't that been a terrible case in Claremont. A young man here was at
27school with Basson at the Diocesan College at Rondebosch & met him the
28day after the murder. Nothing I have ever read

30^of has seemed to distress & haunt me so. I wonder if you or Charley
31know any of the people concerned.^
