Thanks so much for the ?drapers. ?There's very nice. I enclose the
cheque.

Thanks my darling so much for the chair. In it or out of it my
thoughts will be often with thee. Mary, you are developing very fast,
& perhaps when you go out into the Cape in two or three months time
you see, you will be less of a child in every way than you have ever
been in your husbands eyes, & a quite new & much more beautiful
relationship than you have ever known may spring up between you. You
see, when two people have been parted long for good or for evil they
start quite afresh. You have to go through the phase of development.

I got very beautiful letters from Cron this week. I know you would
love him dear, & always feel our house was your true home, & a home to
your children. We would have jolly long evenings chatting out side if
you came to us & you might be in your own by big chair. I sail
certainly in the Dunottar Castle on the 6th of October They've given
me one of the splendid officers cabin's on deck, & midships, the
officer kindly going below for me & I shall have my favourite Captain
Robinson. Everyone is so kind & good to me I feel quite oppressed.
