7 Some one is going into Sheffield so I take the chance of writing. The
8post office is some miles from here, so I've not been up. Please tell
9no one especially in writing to the Cape, but I've my passage in the
10Dunottar Castle which leaves on the 6th October for the Cape. I find
11that circumstance compels me to go out.

13 If I can I shall go abroad for a little run to Paris & Holland before
14I go out, but it is all uncertain before me. I wait from day to day
15but I can't form any plans. It will be lovely if you can come here.
16You wouldn't like it for more than a day as I live in a little tumble
17down cottage by myself, & eat nothing but bread & milk because it
18takes all ones time to cook.

20 If you come to Sheffield or Chesterfield you can get a trap. I think
21the charge is 12/- from Sheffield but from Chesterfield it is 6/-
22Write & let me know when you can come. You will love dear old Ed
