The Project is grateful to the National Library of South Africa (NLSA), Cape Town, for kindly allowing us to transcribe this Olive Schreiner letter, which is part of its Special Collections. The month and year have been written on this letter in an unknown hand.
My darling Mary,
I think it would be better as you are going to Scotland & Paris is
still so close to put off our going till September. Oh it will be so
beautiful to have you dear. My heart hungers for you. I seem to want
no other humanbeing as I want you just now. I might tell you more of
my affairs if I could write ^talk^ but I can't write.
I wish I had seen the children. If you pass through York, try & stop &
see the Cathedral. I shall be in London at the end of the month, &
shall go to spend August at St Leonards, I think.
Are you happy dear?
Your Olive
