The Project is grateful to the National Library of South Africa (NLSA), Cape Town, for kindly allowing us to transcribe this Olive Schreiner letter, which is part of its Special Collections. The date has been written on this letter in an unknown hand; content suggests a December date, as it refers to Schreiner returning from Cape Town to Matjesfontein and having just left the train.
Matjesfontein
Friday
My dear Mrs Sauer
I told them to send you a wire to say I had gone.
It is so delightful here. We can only walk about & be glad. You must
come to Matjesfontein again: I will come & stay with you if ever I
come to Town again, but it will be some months before I do.
I have just got out of the train & am very sleepy, but want you to
have this word tomorrow. Thank you for all your great goodness to me,
Yours always lovingly
