…It’s a beautiful, absolutely calm perfected morning, such as one
2absolutely unknown at Hanover or De Aar - like a fine morning at
3Cradock only fresher & brighter. The birds are twittering & the
4glorious old mountains dreaming in the sun… I hope you are having
5beautiful rest, dear husband… Matjesfontein is just as delightful &
6peaceful as ever. I suppose it’s partly all the association with the
7past that makes it so unspeakably sweet to me. I could cry with a
8feeling of which I don’t know whether it’s joy or sadness when I
9look at the beautiful old hills. I feel as if I’d like to get out my
10papers & begin to write...
