Dear Mr Hodgson
I am not very fit – or would have written before. I should like to
come with you on Thursday evening to see Miss ?Poutney act, if that
suits you. If I shouldn’t be well enough I’ll send you a post card
on Tuesday evening which will reach you Wednesday morning, saying I
can’t come; but I’m sure I shall be better This war takes much out
of one - & what for – what for.
Things in the Cape look as bad as they can be.
