Alassio Wednesday ^night^
Italy Nove 23rd
My Havelock, I don’t know why my heart turns so to you tonight. I
love you so. I’m thinking of your old face & its beautiful smile &
your perfect truth, & all they have meant to me. All the help in my
hour of need that you have been to me. My sweet Boy.
I am going to bed now, very tired, my true brave old heart.
Draznin's (1992) version of this letter is in some respects different from our transcription. Cronwright-Schreiner's (1924) extract is incorrect in various ways.
