My darling Friend

I am so sorry, for my sake that you are going on the 30th. You
couldn’t come up to Hanover for a week first? I feel as if I should
perhaps never see you again.

My cough has been a bit troublesome I’ve been spitting blood, but
the last two days I am much much better. The weather is much warmer
here than it has been quite summery for this time of year. If it keeps
like this, you would enjoy it. I felt the old President’s death so
much.
