My dear Fan,

Will is over playing a game of the unreadable billiards with Mr Logan,
& I am sitting in my home You can’t think how glad I am to see him,
the only pity is that you & our little ones are not here too. Will
thinks it should not have done for you to travel but you are just at
the time soon when travelling is not so bad as it is early. I am going
to make Will promise that you are to come & see me in January! It is
such a damp rainy day here. I am so sorry for Will’s sake but I hope
it will get fine this afternoon. Oh it would be so nice if you were
here, I seem to miss you all as soon as I see Will. He looks better, I
think.

Good bye. Love to our little ones.

I will send the little silver jug now because it’s too long to wait
till your birthday. Give my love to Keetje, & tell her to kiss my
little Oliver for me.
